Welcome

Welcome to the Education History Museum, a partnership project of the Lower Vancouver Island Retired Teachers (LVIRT) and the Faculty of Education, University of Victoria (UVic). We provide educators, researchers, museum workers, and community members free, open access to digitized education artifacts in order to enhance teaching, research, and community engagement with British Columbia's educational history.

We seek to broaden access to historical artifacts that illuminate the world of the classroom. The collection of digitized artifacts can be searched by entering key terms, such as the item type (i.e. photograph), artifact numbers, donors' names, years the artifact was used, or subject matter (e.g. mathematics).

Although we are continuing to record artifacts in the collection and add new ones as well we hope that you enjoy browsing and that the images will be of use in your professional endeavours. We have obtained copyright or made reasonable attempts to do so for all material currently on the site. So please feel free to use the material for teaching or research purposes. However, if you plan to publish any image(s), you will need to obtain copyright permission. If you have questions, comments or material to share, please send an email to edmuseum at uvic.ca.
